The Hospital is led by Visionary Hon'ble Chancellor Shri Dattaji Meghe. It was established in 1989 under the Smt. Radhikabai Meghe Memorial Trust

Currently SMSC is the teaching Hospital of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, which is the constituent college of Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education & Research (Deemed to be University, under section 3 of UGC act 1956, Est. in 2005).

The University is a health university accredited by NAAC as Grade A+ and placed by Min of HAD, Govt. of India under "Category- Iv of Deemed to be Universities'.

The Hospital is managed under the guidance of Shri. Sagar Meghe & Smt. Devika Meghe, Shri Sameer Meghe & Smt. Vrinda Meghe.
